According to holiday calendars, the Indian stock market will be closed on March 31 for Eid-ul-Fitr, and trading will be stopped on the NSE and BSE.
In honor of Eid-ul-Fitr, the Indian market is closed on Monday, March 31. On Monday, trading on both leading stock exchanges will be halted for the festival by the NSE and BSE holiday calendars. The currency derivatives section is closed today, as is the stock markets.
The morning session will close the commodities derivatives section; however, the evening session will begin at 5 PM and last until 11:30 or 11:55 PM. On Tuesday, April 1, the currency, derivatives, and stock markets will all reopen.
Since the Crescent Moon was observed in Lucknow, India, on Sunday, March 30, the month-long Ramadan 2025 season ended, and India is celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday, March 31. Sunday, March 30, was Eid-ul-Fitr throughout the Arab nation. In 2025, there will be 14 holidays for the Indian stock market.
Following Eid, there are three stock market holidays in April: Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14 (Monday), Shri Mahavir Jayanti on April 10 (Thursday), and Good Friday on April 18 (Friday). Maharashtra Day is a single holiday in May that falls on Thursday, May 1. June and July 2025 do not have any stock market holidays.
To commemorate India’s 79th Independence Day, the Indian stock market will be closed on Friday, August 15. On Wednesday, August, there will be a holiday for Shri Ganesh Chaturthi. Three holidays fall during October: Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra on Thursday, Diwali on Tuesday, and Diwali Balipratipada on Wednesday.
Prakash Gurpurb Sri Guru Nanak Dev will have a market holiday on Wednesday, November 5. Thursday, December 25, is Christmas, the year’s last holiday.
